The waterfall of Salto de Novia, also known as Brazal waterfall, is a 40-minute drive from Valencia, in Navajas. This is a 30-meter high waterfall surrounded by the Palancia River and stunning landscapes! In the midst of all this charm, there is a legend associated with this area which with a bad end. According to locals, many years ago, two young couples decided to show their love for each other in a peculiar way.
All the inhabitants gathered to see this proof of love between the couple which consisted of crossing the waterfall that led to the other side of the river, without touching the water. Believing that if the goal was achieved, it would bring happiness and fertility to the future married life. It was then that the young bride decided to jump to reach the other shore when the misfortune of falling to the river occurred. Immediately, the bridegroom threw himself into the water to rescue his mistress, but the current dragged the two bridegrooms to their deaths.
The tragedy that unfolded in the eyes of all resulted in a monument built in honor of the bride and groom whose luck did not marry them. There are those who say that during the night you can hear their sighs of lamentation for the tragedy and that the waterfall weeps at the same time that the river turns into a white robe, as pure as a bride.
